Custom WebGIS

I have developed WebGIS platforms for various customers, in recent past years. The main areas of application of these platforms are: Real Estate, Retail, Logistics and Telecommunications. The greatest challenge has been to create a customized WebGIS for different clients, who often do not have GIS competences or have only basic GIS skills.

When I was studying and initially working with ArcGIS Geodatabases and the powerful features of MS Access, I still had no idea that it was such a special structure. Following OSGEO’s instructions, with the help of system admins and DBA experts, I structured and managed to activate a development/production system, scalable and easy to use.

ArcGIS and MapInfo were the first GIS software I started using during my time at the University. QGIS, together with Postgres/PostGIS remains the most suitable tool for each need I have encountered in the last 10 years and I dedicate all the necessary resources for learning it.

I discovered GIS features of MapInfo dedicated to Location Intelligence, in particular Routing, which thanks to the Tom Tom collaboration, has become an excellent tool. I came to know first WebGIS with Pmapper and Chameleon, then following OSGeoLive I discovered QGIS Server, Zoo Project and Carto (Drupal project).

I became very passionate about the latter.

A had to make a choice between OpenLayers and LeafletJS. The first one dropped due to over-modification from version 2 to 3. Therefore my WebGIS is based on Worpress and LeafletJS.

In 1994–5 I started playing SimCity 2000 and Transport Tycoon. I found interest in studying geography and I was continuously browsing atlases.

I was already designing many maps, but I didn’t have yet the right tools to help me analyze the data behind them.

Now that I had covered that gap, I can implement my abilities in favour of the resources of our planet.

I am open to consider relocation in order to fulfil this objective.
